A proper tribute to former The Young and the Restless star Kristoff St. John have taken shape with Entertainment Weekly announcing key returns to the Global and CBS soap, including Shemar Moore (Malcolm Winters), Victoria Rowell (Drucilla Winters) and Mishael Morgan (Hilary Curtis).
Kristoff St. John originated the role of Neil Winters in 1991. During the week of April 23, Genoa City grapples with the death of the business executive and dear friend. Moore will reprise the role of Malcolm in episodes slated to air April 24 and 25 (Canadian airdates, will air in the U.S. the following day).
Moore will also be on hand in a special tribute episode as himself on a special tribute episode airing on Friday, April 26 (airs April 29 in the U.S.), alongside current cast members and returning stars Victoria Rowell and Mishael Morgan.
Recurring cast members Christel Khalil (Lily Winters) and Jess Walton (Jill Abbott) will be featured in both the storyline and tribute episode, according to Angelica McDaniel, head of CBS Daytime. McDaniel also revealed on Twitter that the show had reached out to Canadian actress Tonya Lee Williams (Olivia Barber) to take part in the tribute, but the actress was working on another project in Europe during the time of filming and couldn’t participate.
Update (April 13): Julia Pace Mitchell (Sofia) and Angell Conwell (Leslie) will return as Neil’s exes during the week of the memorial. Dax Randall will also appear as Sofia and Neil’s son Moses. Eileen Davidson will also be back as Ashley.
St. John passed away on February 4 at the age of 52 in what the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner has now ruled as an “accident.” The actor’s cause of death is listed as hypertrophic heart disease, with alcohol being listed as a “contributing factor” to his passing.
The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on Global and CBS and is also available on demand and streams across the Global GO app and GlobalTV.com. For more soap news and spoilers, click here.
