Big Brother’s Kimo Apaka was the latest houseguest to be evicted and join the jury who will help crown the winner at the finale. The TV Watercooler had the opportunity to submit questions for this week’s jury pool, and Kimo shares with us that he believes each remaining houseguest has played equally strong games, how Rubina is great at making decisions to get herself further in the game and the most challenging decision he had to make in the house.
Which remaining houseguests do you believe have played the strongest games this season?
I think that Chelsi has played a really strong game this whole season, as has Makensy. Those two have stacked resumes and very good social games.
Cam has also played the best game [he could] for himself, as has Rubina.
I don’t think anyone has played a weak game this summer because on Big Brother looks like a lot of things and your game doesn’t have to be a carbon copy of other people’s games who have found success. In the end, I think they’ve all adapted.
For me, coming into the house, I thought the best way to win this game was to adapt and they’ve all done that. I think they’ve all played their own best games.
In the event that you were evicted, did you and Rubina strategize about the moves she could make to go further in the game?
Rubina and I had conversations before I walked out of the house in terms of maybe what her game could look like moving forward, but the one thing about Rubina that I’m sure of is that she will always make the best decision for herself and she’s gotten through this game by making all of her own decisions.
Sure, in week four, T’Kor and I assisted in helping her game continue, but the reason why we fought so hard to keep her was because she was playing her game in a very specific way that made T’Kor and I believe in her and wanted to stick our necks out for her. So, I don’t think she needs any help from me. I wish her all the best and I think that it would be such a triumphant win if she could pull it out. I’m crossing my fingers and wishing her all the best things!
Some highlights from the other questions that Kimo answered:
On Being the Pawn: Kimo was surprised and disappointed to be put on the block as a “pawn” multiple times as in Big Brother history, this always leads to eviction.
“I do feel like that as soon as you accept that you’re going on the block if you don’t advocate better for yourself or put up a fight – especially early on – it could lead to what happened to me, which was being on the block for half of the summer. I did not like it, and looking back, I would have adjusted that strategy.”
However, Kimo is glad that he persevered as long as he could and has no regrets.
Musical Aspirations: Was touched that people complimented his singing and asked if he would be recording something in a studio: “Oh, that’s so sweet! Getting into a studio and recording my album has been something I’ve actually always wanted to do! I grew up very musical and come from a very musical family. I’ve been very artsy my whole life and I’ve written songs for as long as I can remember. I would love to go into a studio. I don’t know if Big Brother liked me singing so often, but it kept me sane in the house.”
Risky Alliance Flip to Vote Out Cedric: Kimo acknowledges that the decision to save Rubina over Cedric was risky but ultimately didn’t have a significant negative impact on his game: “The fact that I made Final Five this summer is incredible. But, looking back, I could have probably communicated better throughout that entire decision – but as I said, it was a scary time, and I was so fired up to save my friend. I came into the house, not wanting to have any regrets. I don’t have any regrets, and things happen just as they should in their timing. That’s what I believe.”
Choosing Between Friends: The most challenging decision Kimo faced was voting between his closest allies, Rubina and T’Kor: “A lot of weight was taken off that decision when a lot of people moved the target to T’Kor, which resulted in her eviction, but the fact that I was charged with that decision at all still makes me sad to this day that it was something that I had to sit with.”
Big Brother next airs this Sunday, Oct. 6 at 10 p.m. ET and Thursday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on Global and CBS.
