Here are some new shows that begin streaming this weekend or have premiered on TV this past week.

Abbott Elementary

Abbott Elementary returned for its fourth season on Wednesday, Oct. 9. In the season premiere, the neighbouring construction site of a new golf course causes issues at Abbott, forcing the teachers to find creative solutions. An HR rep also visits the school and the status of Janine (Quinta Brunson) and Gregory’s (Tyler Williams) relationship status is revealed following their kiss.

New episodes of Abbott Elementary continue to air on Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on Global and ABC. Episodes also stream on Disney+ on Thursdays in Canada.

The Inheritance

New British drama The Inheritance is now streaming on BritBox. Three siblings are left reeling after the unexpected death of their father. Secrets are exploded, relationships ripped apart, and lives lost as they try desperately to claw back the inheritance that they have lost.

The Inheritance stars Robert James-Collier (Downton Abbey), Gaynor Faye (Emmerdale), Jemima Rooper (Silent Witness), and Larry Lamb (EastEnders). All four episodes will be available.

Sweetpea

YellowjacketsElla Purnell stars in the new six-part STARZ series Sweetpea. When her father dies, and her bully returns, a wallflower named Rihannon (Purnell) is triggered to a violent breaking point.

Sweetpea premieres on Thursday, Oct. 10 on Crave with new episodes streaming each Friday.

The Office Movers

New Canadian series The Office Movers premieres this Friday on Crave and is from comedy duo Jae and Trey Richards, who take viewers behind the scenes of a fictional moving company and showcases the hilarious – yet very relatable – struggles of working in a family business. 

Two new episodes of the six-episode first season of The Office Movers will drop each Friday.

The Confidante

Max series The Confidante also premieres this Friday on Crave. Inspired by true events, this psychological thriller follows Christelle “Chris” Blandin, a rock music-obsessed Parisian, who, after witnessing the harrowing November 13, 2015 terrorist attacks, quickly latches onto a community of survivors.

The four-episode limited series will roll out each Friday and stars Laure Calamy, Arieh Worthalter, Annabelle Lengronne, Alexis Manenti, Ava Baya, and Anne Benoît.

Joan

Sophie Turner stars as a woman who goes between her thriving and daring career as a jewel thief, all whilst trying to get her daughter back from social services, we see a mother in despair swept up in the exhilarating world of crime.

Joan premieres in Canada on CBC Gem this Friday, Oct. 11. 

Caddo Lake

An eight-year-old girl mysteriously vanishes and a series of past deaths and disappearances start to link together, forever altering a broken family’s history.

Caddo Lake comes from producer M. Night Shyamalan and writer-directors Celine Held and Logan George. The film stars Dylan O’Brien, Eliza Scanlen, and Lauren Ambrose. Begins streaming this Friday, Oct. 11 on Crave.

Disclaimer

Lonely Planet

Also premiering this Friday, Oct. 11 is Lonely Planet on Netflix. At a retreat in Morocco, a woman meets a young man whose acquaintanceship evolves into an intoxicating, life-altering love affair.

The film stars Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth.

Coma

Coming to Mubi this Friday, Oct. 11 is the 2022 film Coma: Online behavior and content consumption through the eyes of a teenage girl who immerses audiences into her dreams and nightmares. Navigating between dreams and reality, she’s guided by a disturbing and mysterious YouTuber, Patricia Coma.

The French film is from director and writer Bertrand Bonello and stars Julia Faure, Louise Labèque and Ninon François.

The Graham Norton Show

This week’s episode of The Graham Norton Show will feature Hugh Grant, Sebastian Stan, Greg Davies, Neneh Cherry, and Perrie Edwards. Airs at 11 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 12 on BBC First.

Saturday Night Live

This week’s episode will be hosted by Arianna Grande and musical guest Stevie Nicks. Airs at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on Global and NBC. Also streams on GlobalTV.com, the Global TV app and STACKTV in Canada.
