Big Brother Exit Interview: Ava Pearl

ava pearl big brother exit interview season 27

Ava Pearl was the sixth houseguest to join jury on Big Brother 27. The TV Watercooler had the opportunity to submit questions to Ava before she entered the jury house.

The 24-year-old aura painter, currently living in New York City, spoke about the White Locust twist, her actions concerning Rachel and Vince, and her “straightforward” style.

The White Locust Twist and Her Decision

  • View on the Twist: Ava found the BP Blockbuster twist (the three-nominee block) “interesting” because it allowed people who were good at competitions to power through the game. She admits this was “scary” for her since she’s not a strong competitor.
  • Choosing Vince over Rachel in the White Locust: Ava won the first phase of the White Locust twist, giving her the power to choose who competed first in the maze. She chose Vince despite Rachel being her final two and volunteering.
    • Reasoning: Her choice was strategic: Rachel told her not to pick Lauren, and Ava was afraid Lauren might go home if Rachel was eliminated later. By picking Vince, she felt she could “pass the buck” to him to make the subsequent choice, which she hoped would be Lauren. She figured Vince’s strong social game meant he wouldn’t be eliminated that night anyway.
    • Lack of Regret: Ava states she does not regret the decision, especially since she knew Vince and Rachel were in an alliance with Ashley anyway. She suggests the outcome might not have been much different if she had picked Rachel.
  • The Arm Pull: Rachel pulling her arm to convince her to let her go first in the competition was a mix of things that led to her reaction, including having to make a quick decision and protecting her allies (Lauren and Ashley). She felt she couldn’t protect them if Rachel went first.

Relationships with Rachel and Vince

  • Rachel as a Houseguest: She called Rachel a “legend,” an “icon,” and “the moment,” and said it was “really, really cool” playing with her.
  • Post-Eviction Comments on Rachel: When asked if she stands by her comments against Rachel after her elimination and would say them to her face, Ava matter-of-factly stated she doesn’t need to because Rachel will see them by watching the show.
  • Vince (“The Lip”): Ava said she is open to Vince winning her over for his jury vote, depending on how he plays the rest of the game.
    • Nicknaming and Calling Out: She confirmed nicknaming him “The Lip” and calling him out during the game but does not regret her choice to pick him in the White Locust competition.

General Gameplay

  • Strategic Information Sharing: When asked if she was strategic in sharing information, Ava couldn’t recall a specific example and admitted she often just forgot what she heard after blending in by “always in bed.”
  • HOH Influence: She stated she ran her own Head of Household (HOH) and that Wil did not run it for her. She was unsure if she falsely accused Mickey, but said Mickey had a lot of input.
  • Final Words: When asked for a final plea to the person responsible for her eviction (Vince), she said she would tell him to put up Ashley, but she already did.
  • She would shift her attitude about Vince winning depending on how he does in the rest of the game.

The season finale of Big Brother airs this Sunday, September 28 at 8:30 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. PT on CBS and Global TV.
