— James Franco will be returning to General Hospital in 2011. The actor, who is hosting next year’s Academy Awards alongside Anne Hathaway on Sunday, February 27th. Franco will return for a two-episode stint, bookending the Oscars, on the Friday (Feb. 25th) and Monday (Feb. 28th). The appearance is expected to tease a longer storyline that will air later in 2011.
— Eliza Dushku has decided to pull out of the TNT pilot, Bird Dog due to creative reasons. Honestly, I wasn’t feeling the name of the show. She deserves a show with a much better title, oh like I don’t know…maybe Faith the Vampire Slayer.
— The details for this year’s MTV New Year’s Bash have been announced. Snooki will be placed in a ball that will drop in Times Square on the stroke of midnight. The rest of the Jersey Shore cast is expected to join her while comic Whitney Cummings (Chelsea Lately) will host the event with musical guest Flo Rida. The special airs from 11 p.m. to midnight.
— ABC will air Matthew Perry’s new sitcom, Mr. Sunshine in the Wednesday 9:30 p.m. slot when Courteney Cox’s Cougar Town goes on hiatus for nine weeks beginning February 9th.
— Teletoon Retro will be bringing back (by both the power of Greyskull *and* the honour of Greyskull) He-Man and She-Ra to Canadian viewers in the new year. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and She-Ra: Princess of Power will premiere on January 7th at 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. A marathon for both shows will air on Sunday, January 2nd from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. By the power of Greyskull!
— Just because Community has become successful doesn’t mean that Joel McHale is planning on leaving his hosting duties over that The Soup any time soon. Joel has signed a new deal with E! to continue hosting for two more years. The Soup aired its 300th episode last Friday.
