Ryan Gosling will serve as host when Saturday Night Live returns for its 43rd season on September 30. Jay-Z will serve as musical guest. The announcement was made during the finale of SNL’s Weekend Update: Summer Edition on Thursday (Aug. 24).
This will mark Gosling’s second time hosting SNL. He previously hosted the Dec. 5th episode. The Canadian actor’s latest film, Blade Runner 2049 will hit theatres on October 6. Jay-Z has appeared on SNL as a musical guest three times, in 2000 (hosted by Lucy Liu), 2002 (hosted by Eric McCormack) and 2010 (with host Betty White). Jay-Z’s last guest appearance on the show was in 2013 when Justin Timberlake hosted. Jay-Z’s latest album 4:44 was released on June 30.
Confirmed cast departures for SNL’s 2017-18 season include Bobby Moynihan, Vanessa Bayer and Sasheer Zamata.
