Queen Sugar returns for the second half of its second season beginning this week. Ava DuVernay’s critically acclaimed series will have have a two-night premiere in the U.S., with the first part of the midseason finale airing Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on OWN, and continuing Thursday, Oct. 4 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. In Canada, the second season will continue to air Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo, beginning Wednesday, Oct. 4.
Primetime vet Sharon Lawrence has been cast as Lorna, Charley’s (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) mother, and will first appear in the midseason premiere when she arrives unexpectedly. Nova’s (Rutina Wesley) Zika story causes concern in the community. Micah (Nicholas L. Ashe) finally comes to terms with his emotions. Violet’s (Tina Lifford) condition worsens. Meanwhile, Darla (Bianca Lawson) reaches out to her estranged parents (played by Michael Michele and Roger Guenveur Smith) to share her engagement news.
Look for Days of our Lives’ Greg Vaughan to return as Nova’s former lover Calvin later this season.
