Bell Media has announced the first slate of series from HBO Max that will be available in Canada on Crave when the new streaming services launches in the U.S.

Romantic comedy Love Life starring Anna Kendrick, children’s crafting competition series Craftopia hosted by Canadian YouTube star LaurDIY, and underground ballroom competition series Legendary will launch on Crave on May 27, the same day they debut in the U.S.

Additional HBO Max programming that will stream on Crave in Canada include the new Gossip Girl (which will premiere in 2021), Kaley Cuoco’s The Flight Attendant, Mindy Kaling’s College Years, Lena Dunham’s Generation, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: The Sisterhood, and Greg Berlanti’s Green Lantern.

Love Life

The first three episodes of Love Life will premiere on Wednesday, May 27.

Update (June 3): Two additional episodes will premiere on Thursday, June 4 and the final four episodes will be released on Thursday, June 11 thanks to the show’s popularity in the U.S. on HBO Max. Love Life was also ranked third in Crave’s series rankings for the week of May 25.

The series is about the journey from first love to last love, and how the people we’re with along the way make us into who we are and when we finally end up with someone forever. The anthology series is created by Sam Boyd (In a Relationship) and will follow a different protagonist’s quest for love each season. Each half-hour episode will tell the story of one of their relationships. Starring alongside Kendrick in the first season are Zoë Chao (Downhill), Peter Vack (I Just Want My Pants Back), Sasha Compere (Miracle Workers), and Hope Davis (For the People). Phantom Thread’s Lesley Manville narrates the series.

Episodes 1 through 8 of Craftopia premiere on May 27. Hosted by Lauren Riihimaki aka LaurDIY, nine to 15-year old contestants put their imaginations to the test and make their crafting dreams come true in a magical studio. After racing to fill up their carts with inspiring materials from their “store,” the crafters meet larger-than-life challenges, making truly inventive and amazing creations in order to take home the “Craftrophia.”

The first two episodes of Legendary premiere on Wednesday 27, with new episodes arriving each Wednesday. The series pulls directly from the underground ballroom community where voguing teams (aka “houses”) must compete in unbelievable balls and showcase sickening fashion in order to achieve “legendary” status. The cast includes MC Dashaun Wesley and DJ MikeQ along with celebrity judges Law Roach, Jameela Jamil, Leiomy Maldonado, and Megan Thee Stallion.

HBO Max’s Love Life, Craftopia, and Legendary premiere May 27 on Crave in Canada.
