ABC has cancelled Roseanne following Roseanne Barr’s racist Twitter rant on Tuesday (May 29).
Within hours of Barr’s Twitter attack on Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to former U.S. President Barack Obama, ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey released the following statement: “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.” Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger also tweeted, “There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing.”

The Roseanne revival was scheduled to return for another season (its 11th overall season) this Fall on both ABC and CTV in Canada. No word yet on what will fill ABC’s primetime schedule on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. (CTV will announce their fall schedule next week).
CTV has also pulled Roseanne episodes from on demand and streaming platforms (CTV.ca and the CTV GO mobile app).
