Has veteran Young and the Restless star Doug Davidson left the soap?

In January, Davidson was downgraded to recurring status after being a contract actor on the Sony-produced series since 1978 and has seen his screen time diminished. While a rep for the show told Daytime Confidential that the actor continues to remain on recurring status, the actor has revealed on Twitter that he doesn’t have any new filming dates scheduled and laments when other fans point out how unhappy they are with the way the series treats their veteran performers and the type of storylines the series wishes to tell, “They are doing away with history.

Davidson’s diminished screen time is the latest casting blow to fans as he joins other fan favourite characters that have also seen their screen time diminished this past year including Christian LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin) and Tracey Bregman (Lauren Fenmore). Christel Khalil (Lily Winters) revealed to fans that she’s also on recurring status with the soap. Canadian actress Mishael Morgan exited the soap this past summer when Hilary was killed off when producers failed to negotiate a new contract with the actress. Meanwhile, Eileen Davidson is set to exit the role of Ashley once again this summer.

This week on The Young and the Restless: Victor (Eric Braeden) puts Jack (Peter Bergman) on notice on Monday (September 17; Canadian airdates listed). Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) digs for dirt. Mariah (Camryn Grimes) takes a risk.

On Tuesday (September 18), Sharon (Sharon Case) celebrates a milestone. Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) receives shocking news. Ashley (Eileen Davidson) faces a moral dilemma.

Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) loyalty is tested on Wednesday (September 19). Jack resorts to extreme measures. Devon (Bryton James) surprises Shauna (Camryn Hamm).

On Thursday (September 20), Victor makes a tough decision. Traci (Beth Maitland) returns home. Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon struggle with secrets.

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on Global and CBS. Canadian viewers can catch up with Y&R on demand, on the Global Go app and online at GlobalTV.com.
