Hulu’s breakout hit Shrill will have its Canada premiere when all six episodes of its first season debut on Crave on Friday, May 3.
Shrill made its debut in the U.S. on Hulu back in March and has already been renewed for a second season which will premiere in 2020.
The series stars Saturday Night Live’s Aidy Bryant and is inspired by Lindy West’s memoir Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman and is about a young woman, Annie, who wants to change her life – but not her body. Annie is at the beginning of a career as a writer while trying to juggle a bad boyfriend, a sick parent, and a perfectionist boss.
The series also stars Luka Jones as Annie’s boyfriend Ryan, Lolly Adefope as Annie’s best friend and roommate Fran, Ian Owens as Annie’s co-worker and friend Amadi, and John Cameron Mitchell as Annie’s boss Gabe. Daniel Stern and Julia Sweeney recur as Annie’s parents, Bill and Vera.
Executive producers include Lorne Michaels, Elizabeth Banks, and Lindy West. A definite stand out for the series is its fourth episode which features a body-positive pool party.
Shrill premieres on May 3 on Crave in Canada.
