Days of our Lives star Kristian Alfonso surprised TV fans this week when she announced she’d be leaving the soap, after an impressive 37-year-run.
Alfonso assumed the role of Hope Williams on the NBC soap back in 1983 and became part of the show’s most iconic supercouples with Bo Brady (played by Peter Reckell).

The actress left DAYS in 1987 for a two-year stint on primetime soap Falcon Crest before returning as Hope twice for a brief stint in 1990. After a series of primetime guest appearances (Baywatch, Melrose Place), Alfonso returned to DAYS in 1994, as an amnesiac Hope believed she was Princess Gina.

The actress revealed on social media that she has already filmed her final episode and won’t be returning to set once DAYS resumes production this September, following the COVID-19 shutdown. In the same post, the actress thanks her “incredible loyal fans,” as well as Betty Corday, the soap’s co-creator.

Days of our Lives has been a vital part of both my personal and professional journey. I am forever grateful to NBC and the late Betty Corday, who took a chance on me many years ago and changed my life. I have built some lifelong friendships with my extraordinary talented casemates. DAYS has one of the hardest working crews in all of television, many of whom have become part of my extended family. I feel blessed and honoured to have been invited into people’s homes for over three decades. However, it is now time for me to write my next chapter. I will not be returning to DAYS when it resumes production in September. I’ve already filmed my last episode several months ago. Finally – to the incredible loyal fans of DAYS – many of you have been on this journey from the beginning. I cannot thank you enough for your generosity, love and support. I could not have done it without YOU!!!”

We’re hoping “Fancy Face” returns to Salem soon!
