Beginning Thursday, Dec. 31, Canadians will be able to stream Friends on Crave, as the classic sitcom moves to Bell Media’s streaming platform from Netflix.
“After more than 25 years, Friends continues to be a powerhouse comedy drawing both long-time, die-hard fans, as well as new ones,” said Bell Media’s Tracey Pearce. Friends joins Crave’s lineup of favourites including Seinfeld, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Veronica Mars and 30 Rock that are included in the platform’s entry level package.
Created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, Friends ran for 10 seasons on NBC (and Global in Canada) from 1994 through 2004. 236 episodes followed six New Yorkers as they navigated through early adulthood, love, friendship, and careers.
Earlier this year, Friends left Netflix in the U.S. for its new home, Warner Bros.’s HBO Max – which will host a much-delayed reunion featuring Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer. Stay tuned to The TV Watercooler for where and when to stream the special in Canada.
Canadians can also catch Friends reruns on CTV Comedy Channel.
