Past and present General Hospital cast members paid tribute to Stuart Damon, who has passed away at the age of 84. Damon began playing fan-favourite Alan Quartermaine in May 1977 and stayed with the series until 2007. The actor would return for guest spots as Alan’s spirit visited family members. He last appeared in April 2013 as part of General Hospital’s 50th-anniversary celebration.

“I am so grateful to have had this wonderful man in my life. I am very sad today,” said Genie Francis (Laura). Amber Tamblyn (ex-Emily) shared “Broken hearted to hear of the passing of Stuart Damon. He played by adopted dad on General Hospital for 7 years and he was the most kind, wonderful, loving, supportive person. He always made me laugh and made me feel safe on set. I lovely you, Stewy. Rest well now, my friend.” Series executive producer Frank Valentini also honoured the beloved vet, “On behalf of everyone at GH, I want to extend my deepest condolences to Stuart Damon’s family and all who loved him. Stuart was an absolute legend of our industry and he’ll be sorely missed.”
