U.S. streaming service Peacock announced on July 26 that an exciting spin-off to NBC’s beloved daytime drama Days of our Lives is in the works.

About Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem

Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem is a five-episode limited series that will be led by returning star Lisa Rinna (Billie Reed) and will take place over a long weekend as John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall) travel to Zurich, Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) and Ciara (Victoria Konefal) have a romantic getaway in New Orleans, Chad (Billy Flynn) visits some old friends in Phoenix, while Abe (James Reynolds), Paulina (Jackée Harry), Lani (Sal Stowers) and Eli (Lamon Archey) vacation in Miami.

The Salemites find themselves embroiled in a mystery involving stolen jewels which, in the wrong hands, could cause dire consequences for Salem. It’s a race against time for ISA agent Billie Reed as she crosses the globe in search of this missing treasure.

Beyond Salem is developed by the same team behind Days of our Lives: Ken Corday serves as executive producer, Albert Alarr serves as co-executive producer and the limited series will be written by Ron Carlivati. No word yet on a premiere date, however, it could be as early as September.

Additional Cast Members Announced

Returning cast members announced on August 2 include Thaao Penghlis (Tony DiMera), Leann Hunley (Anna DiMera), Christie Clark (Carrie Brady), Austin Peck (Austin Reed), Greg Rikaart (Leo Stark), and Chandler Massey (Will Horton). Meanwhile Zach Tinker (ex-Fen, The Young and the Restless) will assume the role of Sonny Kiriakis (who was previously played by Freddie Smith).

Deadline is also reporting that Eileen Davidson will be appearing on Beyond Salem but has yet to reveal which character she’ll be portraying. Stacy Haiduk most recently appeared as Susan Banks and Kristen DiMera earlier this year, two roles that were originated by Davidson. Davidson previously appeared alongside Lisa Rinna on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and continues to guest on The Young and the Restless as Ashley Abbott.

Canadian fans hoping to watch Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem will need to get vocal to see their Salem favourites in this spin-off series.

Global, which airs and streams Days of our Lives in Canada, hasn’t confirmed a pick-up of the spin-off.

Corus Entertainment, which owns Global, struck a deal NBCUniversal to air “marquee” Peacock originals in Canada, such as the Saved by the Bell and Punky Brewster revivals, Gilrs5Eva, Rutherford Falls, We Are Lady Parts. Over the past year, these new series have aired on Corus’ specialty channels (including W Network, Showcase, Slice) and have streamed on Global’s app.

Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem doesn’t seem to be part of NBCUniversal’s deal with Corus Entertainment as the limited series is produced by Corday Productions and Sony Pictures Television and not NBCUniversal.

The good news is that Sony Pictures Television has told The TV Watercooler that they are actively selling the series but do not have a deal confirmed yet for Canada.
