In John Carney’s (Once, Sing Street, Begin Again) Flora and Son, Eve Hewson (Bad Sisters) is a young mother, who is trying to connect to her teenage son, Max (Orén Kinlan), through their shared love of music. When Max isn’t interested in the guitar Flora found (he’d rather create beats on his laptop), she begins taking online lessons from Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Jeff.

Hewson and Kinlan create a beautiful dynamic as mother and son while chemistry is also present between Hewson and Gordon-Levitt.

As a viewer, you ache for Flora to put herself and her happiness first – but as expected, responsibility comes first. The hearty moments shine through the family drama

Watch This If: Enjoy Irish humour. We all need more of it (along with a second season of Bad Sisters).
