Paramount+’s new limited series A Gentleman in Moscow is set to premiere this Friday, March 29, in Canada, the U.K., Australia and in the U.S. (for subscribers with Paramount+ with Showtime).
The series is an adaptation of Amor Towles best-selling novel, of the same name. It follows Count Alexander Rostov — played by the Emmy Award-winning Ewan McGregor (Halston) — who, in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution, finds that his gilded past places him on the wrong side of history.
Filmed in the U.K., A Gentleman in Moscow also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Ahoska) as glamorous film star Anna Urbanova, Alexa Goodall (The Devil’s Hour) as the Count’s unlikely young friend Nina, Johnny Harris (This is England ‘86) as conflicted secret police officer Osip, and Fehinti Balogun (Dune) as Mishka, the Count’s best friend from university.
As the Count finds himself spared by execution, he is banished by a Soviet tribunal to an attic room in the opulent Hotel Metropol, threatened with death if he ever sets foot outside again. As the years go by and some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history unfold outside the Count’s doors, his reduced circumstances provide him entry into a much larger world of emotional discovery. As he builds a new life within the hotel’s walls, he discovers the true value of friendship, family, and love.
Rounding out the cast of the 8-episode limited series are Leah Harvey (Foundation), Paul Ready (Motherland), John Heffernan (Becoming Elizabeth), Lyès Salem (Coupez), Björn Hlynur Haraldsson (The Witcher), Dee Ahluwalia (Consent), Anastasia Hille (I Hate Suzie Too), Daniel Cerqueira (Judy), Leah Balmforth (Silent Roar), Billie Gadsdon (One Day) and Beau Gadsdon (The Crown).
Paramount+ will release a new episode each Friday, with the finale set for May 17.
Following A Gentleman in Moscow’s premiere in Canada, the U.K., Australia, and the U.S. on March 29, Paramount+ will roll the series out on May 17 in Latin America, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and South Korea. A release for Japan is being planned for a later date.
