Corus Entertainment released its plans for the upcoming 2024/25 television season to advertisers today (June 5) and noticeably absent from the Global midseason schedule was the thirteenth season of Big Brother Canada.
As reported by Bill Brioux, “No final decision has been made as yet,” said Troy Reeb, executive vice president of broadcast networks at Corus Entertainment” over a Zoom call.
A spokesperson for Global TV confirmed to The TV Watercooler that Corus has not made a decision regarding the renewal of Big Brother Canada for season 13.
With ratings down this past season and Global’s new schedule heavily dependent on U.S. imports, it looks like Canadian reality TV viewers will once again have to get vocal about their displeasure – the same way they did in 2017 when Corus put the show on a similar pause. Luckily, fan outcry brought the show back for its sixth season in March of 2018.
Fans are hopeful that history will repeat itself for the Arisa Cox-hosted series.
