Here are some new shows that begin streaming this weekend or have premiered on TV this past week.
Cheaters
Now streaming on CBC Gem, a chance meeting after a cancelled flight leads to an unlikely hookup between late-twenties strangers Fola and Josh, both already in other relationships. Cheaters series premiered first aired on BBC in 2022 and will return for a second season later this year.
St. Denis Medical
Follow an underfunded and understaffed hospital where the doctors and nurses try their best to treat patients while maintaining their own sanity. Stars Allison Tolman (Fargo), Wendi McLendon-Covey (The Goldbergs), and Kaliko Kauahi (Superstore).
The first episode aired this past Tuesday on CTV and NBC. Canadians can also stream the series on the CTV app and Crave.
Emilia Perez
A cartel boss (Karla Sofia Gascon) enlists Rita (Zoe Saldana), an unappreciated lawyer, to help fake her death so that she can finally live authentically as her true self. Also stars Selena Gomez.
Emilia Perez screened at TIFF this past September and made its debut on Netflix on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
Bad Sisters
Two years after the Garvey sisters (Sharon Horgan, Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene, and Eve Hewson) moved on from the “accidental death” of Grace’s abusive husband, the close-knit sisters may have moved on, but when past truths resurface, the ladies are thrust back into the spotlight, suspicions are at an all-time high, lies are told, secrets are revealed and the sisters are forced to work out who they can trust.
Bad Sisters returned with its first two episodes of season two on Wednesday, Nov. 13. New episodes will continue streaming each Wednesday on Apple TV+.
The Day of the Jackal
The Jackal is an elusive assassin who makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee. He soon meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer who tracks him down in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe.
The Day of the Jackal stars Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch and is based on the Frederick Forsyth novel of the same name. The 1973 film starred Edward Fox and Michael Lonsdale. The series premiered on November 7 in the U.K. on Sky Atlantic and in the U.S. on Peacock. In Canada, The Day of the Jackal will premiere on Thursday, Nov. 14 on Showcase at 9 p.m. ET. New episodes will continue to air on Thursdays on Showcase and stream on the Global TV app and STACKTV.
Sherwood
The second season of Sherwood premieres this Thursday, Nov. 14 on BritBox in Canada and the U.S.
A murder reignites the area’s turf wars and plunges the police force and the community into crisis. Trouble is brewing as two new families find themselves entangled with the Sparrows, stirring up a complex web of local gangs, old rivalries and betrayal. The six-episode second season will have two episodes available to stream each week.
The Graham Norton Show
BBC First airs a new episode of The Graham Norton Show this Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11 p.m. ET with Kate Winslet, Lucy Liu, Dwayne Johnson, Jennifer Lopez, Jharrel Jeremome, and Celeste. This episode originally aired on Nov. 8 on BBC in the U.K.
Saturday Night Live
Charli XCX hosts and performs on Saturday Night Live’s latest episode this Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on Global and NBC. Canadians can also stream the episode on the Global TV app and STACKTV.
Dune: Prophecy
From the Dune universe, this HBO series centers on the lives of the Bene Gesserit and stars Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and Travis Fimmel.
Dune: Prophecy premieres Sunday, Nov. 17 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and Crave. Set 10,000 years before the ascencion of Paul Atreides, the six-episode drama follows two Harkonnen sisters (Watson and Williams) as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. The series is inspired by the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. New episodes will air/stream each Sunday.
Landman
From Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone) and set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, Landman is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. The series is based on the notable 11-part podcast “Boomtown” and is an “upstairs/downstairs” story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fuelling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy, and our geopolitics.
Landman stars Billy Bob Thornton, John Hamm, Ali Larter, Colm Feore, and Demi Moore. The series will premiere with two episodes on Sunday, Nov. 17 on Paramount+ with new episodes streaming each Sunday.
