Bruce Springsteen made filming his new biopic, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, an interesting challenge for star Jeremy Allen White.
In a hilarious moment from an upcoming episode of The Graham Norton Show, the two chatted about the film — which Springsteen insists is a “character driven drama with music,” not a musical biopic. The rock legend revealed that he was “on set a lot,” which led to some awkward moments for White.
“Not only did Jeremy have to play me, but he had to play me while I am sitting right there watching him,” Springsteen confessed, expressing guilt but noting White was “incredibly tolerant and generous.”
White admitted that seeing “the man you are playing in the corner was hard” at first, though he eventually got used to it. He joked, “I think if he had given me notes it might have broken me.”
This episode of The Graham Norton Show, which also features Jennifer Lawrence, Tessa Thompson, and a performance by Florence & The Machine, airs in Canada this Saturday, Oct. 25 at 11 p.m. ET/PT on BBC First (during the channel’s nationwide Free Preview event).
