Saturday Night Live returns for its 51st season this Saturday, October 4 at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and Global.
Three-time Grammy Award winner Bad Bunny returns to host for his second time on the season premiere, with fellow Grammy winner Doja Cat set to perform. This past week, Bad Bunny was named as the performer for next year’s Super Bowl halftime show.
On October 11 – SNL’s actual 50th anniversary – the series will welcome back former cast member Amy Poehler and musical guest Role Model. This will mark Poehler’s second time hosting and third overall (she shared hosting duties with Tina Fey back in 2015). The big birthday episode will be Role Model’s first performance on the series and comes just as he celebrates his first Billboard No. 1 for his song “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out” on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart.
Sabrina Carpenter pulls double duty on the October 18 episode, marking her first appearance as host and second appearance as musical guest.
Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary season won 12 Emmy Awards last month, including Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for SNL50: The Anniversary Special.
The 51st season of SNL welcomes Jeremy Culhane, Ben Marshall, Kam Patterson, and Canadian Veronika Slowikowska.
Departures from last season include Devon Walker, Emil Wakim, Michael Longfellow, Heidi Gardner, and Ego Nowdim.
This season will also be without sketches from comedy group Please Don’t Destroy with John Higgins departing the series, Ben Marshall being promoted to a series regular and Martin Herlihy joining the writing staff.
