Star Trek: Starfleet Academy premieres this Thursday, January 15 and will stream on Paramount+ globally. The series will also air on CTV Sci-Fi in Canada.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will introduce viewers to a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.
The series stars Holly Hunter as Chancellor Nahla Ake, who is also the captain of the USS Athena. Star Trek: Voyager’s Robert Picardo returns as the Doctor. Star Trek: Discovery’s Tig Notaro, Oded Fehr, and Mary Wiseman will also be reprises the roles of Janet Reno, Charles Vance, and Sylvia Tilly.
Cadets include Sandro Rosta as Caleb Mir, Karim Diané as Jay-Den Kraag, Kerrice Brooks as Sam, George Hawkins as Darem Reymi, Bella Shepard as Genesis Lythe, and Zoë Steiner as Tarima Sadal.
Gina Yashere will recur as Lura Thok – part Klingon and part Jem’Hadar first officer – as will Paul Giamatti as Nus Braka – part Klingon, part Tellarite. Tatiana Maslany will also appear as a special guest star in the 10-episode first season.
Stephen Colbert will voice the Academy’s Digital Dean of Students while Brit Marling will be the voice of USS Athena’s computer.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will premiere with two episodes on January 15, when new episodes will drop weekly through March 12. The Toronto-shot series has already been renewed for a second season.
