Michael Graziadei has inked a new year-long deal which will have him stay at The Young and the Restless as Daniel Romalotti. Graziadei joined the soap in 2004. So that’s some great news for Daniel fans, but now some potential bad news for Daniel & Amber fans as Adrienne Frantz is rumored to leaving Y&R to re-join The Bold and the Beautiful where she originated the role of Amber Moore in 1997. Could Amber’s mother help usher her out of Genoa City?
Daytime vet Andrea Evans is headed back to Y&R – but not as Patty Williams (the role she played from 1983-1984). Instead, she’ll be playing Tawny Moore, her character from The Bold and the Beautiful who is Amber’s mother. Patty is of course, now played by Stacy Haiduk. Check out the link for Evans’ story with TV Guide Magazine where she hints at a fight with Michelle Stafford’s Phyllis. Should be an interesting duel of mother-in-laws from hell.
So if Amber and Daniel headed for splittsville, could Daniel reunite with his first wife Lily? I’ve been beyond bored with the snoozefest that is Lily & Cane and the Lily/Daniel interaction a couple of weeks ago was a pleasant surprise. As for Amber, who could she mix things up with over at B&B? Rick’s got nothing to do but will Frantz have the same chemistry with Kyle Lowder (the “new” Rick) as she did with the previous actors (Justin Torkildsen and Jacob Young). They could always just recast Thomas or bring back either Deacon (Sean Kanan) or CJ. Also if they bring back Deacon and Amber, they’ll have to bring up Little Deacon / Eric’s age, who is supposed to be older than the 17-18 year old Hope…There’s no way I want to see Kyle Lowder, Sean Kanan and Adrienne Frantz playing parent to a 20 year old!
In other soap news, Michael Nouri is joining All My Children as Caleb McGraw, a nemesis (aka “new love interest”) for Susan Lucci’s Erica Kane. Nouri got his start on Search for Tomorrow and has recently appeared on Damages, Brothers & Sisters and The O.C. (as Summer’s dad). Recent soap fans can also remember him from his stint on Y&R a couple of years ago as Elliot Hampton, one of Jill’s suitors.
As we all know, soap fans are pretty passionate. I’ve been asked to link to a fan campaign to reinstate Drew Garrett as Michael Corinthos III on General Hospital. Garrett was let go unexpectedly last week and was quickly replaced with Disney actor Chad Duell. Listen up Brian Frons, it’s one thing for adults to hate you and send you death threats, but it’s completely different when young people (aka your key target demographic) wants your head on a platter. To make matters worse, GH has also let go young actor Aaron Refven who plays Morgan. Aaron Sanders will take over on April 14th.
