Soap News: Kelly Monaco Robbed, Martha Byrne joins GH, Y&R Casting Scoop plus Danny and Michelle return to GL

1

— A burglar broke into Kelly Monaco’s (Sam, GH; ex-Livvie/Tess, PC) Las Vegas penthouse last Thursday morning. According to TMZ, the actress was asleep in her Planet Hollywood penthouse when she heard an intruder in her living room abs decided to hide behind her bed and waited for the intruder to leave before she called the police. Monaco is starring in “Peepshow” in Vegas with Mel B.

— Former As The World Turns heroine Martha Byrne (ex-Lily) has joined the cast of General Hospital as Mayor Floyd’s (John Bolger; ex-Gabe, AW) wife Andrea. Details on her storyline haven’t been released and no word yet whether it is a contract or recurring role. Byrne exited her high profile role of Lily Walsh Snyder last spring on As The World Turns after a contract dispute. The role is now being played by Noelle Beck. Beck’s Lily has been tolerated but fans would rather have Byrne back. In addition to acting, Byrne has also had to chance to write scripts for The Bold and the Beautiful.

— The show may be ending its run on CBS this fall, but Guiding Light is welcoming home supercouple Danny and Michelle this May. Paul Anthony Stewart originated the role of mobster Danny Santos in 1998 and stayed until late 2005. The role of Michelle Bauer will be played by Nancy St. Alban, who took over the role from One Tree Hill star Bethany Joy Galeotti in 2000 (and stayed until 2005). Rachel Miner played the role in the 90s, as did Rebecca Budig (ex-Greenlee, AMC).

— Also joining GL is recently axed One Life To Live star BethAnn Bonner (ex-Talia). No details on the character name yet, but Bonner’s first scenes will air in early June with Cyrus (Murray Bartlett) who is searching for his brother Grady.

The Young and the Restless is also shaking things up with a few guest stars in the coming weeks. Tricia Cast returns as Nina on Thursday for Katherine and Murphy’s wedding. Camryn Grimes will return as Cassie’s ghost next Tuesday…look for her to have scenes with Sharon (Sharon Case). David Lago will return as Raul in May…looks like it’s a reunion for the old Glow by Jabot kids now that Billy (now played by Miller Miller) and Mac (now played by Clementine Ford) are back…hopefully they’ll include JT (with original actor Thad Luckinbill). I wonder why they haven’t had any Billy/Mac/JT scenes yet? Touched by an Angel star Della Reese will pop up on May 15th as Neil’s (Kristoff St. John) never-mentioned-before aunt Virginia. FYI, all airdates are for the Canadian day-ahead airings.
