Game of Thrones premiere ratings
The fourth season premiere of Game of Thrones was huge. In the US, the episode was seen by 6.6 million viewers during the 9 p.m. airing (+ another 1.6 million during the 11 p.m. / 1 a.m. airings). So at least 8.2 million people saw it legally on TV. It also shut down HBO Go. The season three finale last June had 5.4 million viewers. It was the most watched HBO event since the series finale of The Sopranos in 2007 (which did 11.9 million).  [Vulture]

In Canada, it was the most-watched premiere in HBO Canada history with more than 1.1 million viewers. Big tip for this Sunday night’s episode: you will need to watch it live. Trust me. The Internet will explode following the fourth season’s second episode.
