— Social media was buzzing following Viola Daviswin at the primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night as General Hospital’s Nancy Lee Grahn criticized the speech the first black woman to win an Emmy for a Leading Actress in a Drama Series.

Things escalated quickly as Grahn first defended her statements (believing that Davis has never been discriminated against) and then saw her error and apologized but not before becoming a trending topic in the United States and receiving a ton of coverage from mainstream press, like Buzzfeed, Variety and Us Weekly.

It’s a shame that the day what followed a historic win, all the attention was given to Grahn’s tweets.

A lot has been said about this topic. I’ve followed Grahn on Twitter for years and have enjoyed watching her on as Alexis Davis on General Hospital for almost two decades (she was on Santa Barbara prior). I was used to seeing her outspoken tweets about politics and to be honest it never really had any affect on me as a Canadian. So these tweets really came as a surprise to me.

White privilege is failing to understand “opportunity” when there are only two female actresses of colour on a show with over 30 cast members.

kassie depaiva leaving days

Serial Scoop is reporting that Kassie DePaiva is leaving Days of our Lives in early 2016. The actress assumed the role of Eve Donovan in June 2014 (taking it over from Charlotte Ross, who played it from 1987-1991).

The actress confirmed the news of her departure on her website over the weekend. “As the sand runs out of my hourglass over at Days… I have no regret. I had a truly remarkable experience there.” Click here to see her thank the fans and her cast mates for her time in Salem.

Don’t expect Eve’s exit to be tied to the Necktie Killer storyline. The actress is best known for her role as One Life to Live’s Blair Cramer from 1993-2013. DePaiva also appeared on Guiding Light as Chelsea from 1986-1991 and General Hospital as her OLTL character in 2012.

guy wilson leaving days

Serial Scoop is also reporting that Guy Wilson will also be departing DAYS next month as Will becomes the latest victim of the serial killer. How do you feel? Are you surprised that the soap is killing off Sami Brady’s (Alison Sweeney) first-born son? Look for Freddie Smith to return as Sonny following his husband’s death.

— Next week on Days of our Lives: Eve lashes out at Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) and later has a heart-wrenching day as she tries to get through Paige’s (True O’Brien) funeral. Eduardo (A. Martinez) makes a bold move to assist the police in finding Chad (Billy Flynn).

A desperate Chad (Billy Flynn) attempts to secure his alibi and reluctantly turns to Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) for help.

Look for Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Victor (John Aniston) to clash over how to treat Caroline’s (Peggy McKay) condition.

— Be sure to check out TV Insider’s interview with Thaao Penghlis who is set to return as Andre DiMera next month. In the interview, Penghlis reveals what bring Andre back to Salem, how he cheated death (again) and that the writers have retconned Andre into Stefano’s son.
