Variety reports that General Hospital has cast TikTok star Caitlin Reilly to pay tribute to her father John Reilly as the ABC soap prepares a tribute to the late actor who portrayed Sean Donelly with a special tribute episode.

Caitlin Reilly will portray Annie Donely – Sean and Tiffany (Sharon Wyatt)’s daughter, who was originally named Anna (after Finola Hughes’ Anna).

“Words can’t describe how honoured I am to be playing my dad’s daughter on the show,” shared Reilly. “I grew up on the set of General Hospital, watching him work for years, so it’s exciting to dive into a new character in honour of him. He’ll absolutely be by my side in sprit on set rooting me on. It fills my heart with gratitude to be part of this tribute to him, and to feel so close to him working on a show he loved so much doing.”

John Reilly passed away in January 2021 and first appeared on GH from 1984 through 1995. Daytime fans may also recognize the actor from his portrayal of Alistair Crane on Passions from 2005 through 2008.

Reilly reprised the role of Sean on General Hospital: Night Shift in 2008 for a guest stint and last appeared on GH in 2013 as part of the show’s 50th anniversary celebration. It was during this stint that Annie was portrayed by Courtney Halverson.

Caitlin Reilly has amassed almost 2 million followers on TikTok for her viral performances as WASP-y moms among others. The actor, comedian, writer and producer will also be seen in a commercial campaign for UbiSoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Kevin Smith’s new indie film Wrong Reasons.

No word yet with this tribute episode will air, however Sean Donely was mentioned this past week in reference to a previous poisoning storyline.

General Hospital airs weekdays on Citytv and ABC. Canadian viewers can catch up on demand, on the Citytv NOW app and on Citytv.com. For the latest soap opera news, previews and spoilers, please visit TheTVWatercooler.com/Soaps.
