General Hospital fans are in shock after news broke on Monday (August 26) that Kelly Monaco would be leaving the soap this fall after an impressive 21 years as Sam McCall.
Soap Opera Network reported on Monday (Aug. 26) that Monaco’s character would be killed off this fall and that the actress was “blindsided.”
The actress’ exit comes at a time when ABC should be celebrating Monaco’s 25th anniversary with the network. Having started her ABC daytime career on Port Charles (as Livvie Locke and later Tess) from 2000-2003, Monaco then joined General Hospital following the cancellation of Port Charles in October 2003.
Monaco’s other credits include Baywatch, Dirty Soap, and won the very first season of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars in 2005.
