— Alison Sweeney opened up to People magazine about leaving the role of Sami Brady on Days of our Lives after 21 years. She knew it was time for a change when her nine-year-old son, Ben, would wake up before 6 a.m. just to have breakfast with her.
“Ben would just wake up really early just so he could have breakfast with me before I went to work, and that sat with me. I’d like to be there for them and not feel like I have nine other things going on in my head. Committing to two full-time jobs (she also hosts NBC’s The Biggest Loser) and being a wife and mom has been challenging and exhausting. It’s been weighing on me for a long time.”
Sweeney, who recently directed an episode of General Hospital, taped her final episode of Days of our Lives earlier this summer and will air throughout the fall.
— People magazine is also reporting that Eileen Davidson, who recently returned to Days of our Lives (as Kristen)for a short stint and will then head to The Young and the Restless (as Ashley) this fall, is set to join The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills next season along with friend Lisa Rinna (ex-Billie, Days of our Lives; ex-Taylor, Melrose Place).

— General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful alum Antonio Sabato, Jr. will host a new syndicated reno series, Fix It & Finish It. The series will premiere on September 8, 2014. Check your local listings closer to that time to see which local station in your area will pick it up.

— This week’s Days of our Lives scoop: Sami (Alison Sweeney) succeeds in getting Abigail (Kate Mansi) to lose her job at the hospital and later runs into Jordan (Chrishell Stause). Jordan implies that she and Rafe (Galen Gering) have a much better relationship than she and Rafe ever did but Sami interrupts and reveals that Rafe recently slept with Kate (Lauren Koslow). Jordan then goes to confront Rafe while Kate is more than thrilled that the truth is out.
Daniel (Shawn Christian) tries to get away from Kristen (Eileen Davidson) but is caught by her men. Eric (Greg Vaughan) and Nicole (Arianne Zucker) find themselves on the same flight to Rome.
