twin peaks returning showtime

— This is neat. Cult ‘90s series Twin Peaks will return to television for a nine-episode revival by Showtime. Look for these new episodes to premiere in 2016 with David Lynch and Mark Frost returning as writers (Lynch will also direct). Showtime will air the first two seasons, which aired on ABC, before the new season airs. Still too early to see which Canadian specialty network will acquire broadcast rights.

— The Movie Network has made the pilot for The Affair online. Check it out here. The series, which explores the emotional and psychological affair, stars Joshua Jackson, Dominic West, Ruth Wilson and Maura Tierney.

— Former Walking Dead star Sarah Wayne Callies has joined the cast of Colony – the USA Network series about an alien invasion in Los Angeles. Lost’s Josh Holloway also stars. The series comes from Carlton Cuse.

— The premiere of John Mulaney’s sitcom didn’t perform that well in the U.S. ratings last night.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Nicholas Brendon will guest star on the season finale of MTV’s Faking It. The actor also got married last week in Las Vegas.

Game of Thrones has spent $200,000 to keep Lena Headey’s nude scene from prying eyes.

— Did Saturday Night Live steal this sketch? What did you think of the rest of the show? I thought it was a lot better than last week’s season premiere (Sorry Chris Pratt). Loved the sketch with Sarah Silverman as Joan Rivers. FYI, the green screen footage of the traffic used in one of the sketches belongs to Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway.

— Run, don’t walk, to see Gone Girl if you haven’t.

— AMC has released a music video promoting Better Call Saul – lyrics by show creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. Song is performed by Junior Brown. Better Call Saul will premiere in February 2015.
