Regina’s Zach Oleynik was the first houseguest to be evicted in last Wednesday’s (May 20) double eviction episode. We chat with Zach about how he created his big alliance, if there were any houseguests he which he could have worked with and who he thinks will win the game.

How did you manage to create your alliances? Many of the houseguests aligned themselves with you, what do you think attracted them to you?
The alliances were a funny thing at the start because people were trying to get into groups early and I think that they just kind of fell into my hands. I wanted to start out by just getting a good social game and getting people to trust me and I guess I did that well by being a genuine guy and make people feel that they could rely on me in the game. I didn’t plan it, it just sort of happened and all of a sudden, the next thing I know I’m sitting in an alliance with everybody.

Was there another houseguest who you wish you had gotten a chance to work with but didn’t?
I would say Naeha is someone I would have wanted to work with later in the game. She got a very bad break with the instant eviction. I would have loved to see what she could have done in the game because she was a crazy competitor and a very smart woman.

Do you think that Ashleigh and some of the other girls relied too heavily on the showmance and the male member of that showmance to get themselves ahead?
Yes and no because I think that for them it was a good game move because they knew that these guys in the alliance were going to be the first to go. They were the big targets. Ashleigh and Pilar were with Kevin and I but at the same time, Kevin and I were the ones that were going to take the hit first and once we took the hit, then they were going to have another life in the game. It was something that brought attention to them but it was kind of a shield for them in the game.

Who would you have taken to the final two with you? Or even the final three?
Final three I would have taken Ashleigh and Pilar. I wanted to be loyal to that group. These two girls had my back in the game and I when I was up on the block at the end of the week, they were still fighting for me. I wanted to honour that and work with them to the end.

For final two, I would have taken Ashleigh. She’s someone I worked with very early on in the game, had a bond with and I still thought that I could have maybe beat her in the end. So yeah, I would have taken her.

You told Arisa that you hope that Sarah wins. Can you elaborate on this choice? (How would Ashleigh feel about this choice?) Who don’t you not want to see win the game?
Sarah is a very good player. She’s done a lot of work inside the house and didn’t get her hands dirty. She’s able to make moves without actually doing them by convincing and manipulating people. That’s why I think she’s going to win. I think that other people sit as bigger targets in front of her even though she has played the best game there. Ashleigh would know that Sarah is my choice. I told her that when I left Sarah was a dangerous player and if you can get rid of her, get rid of her because Sarah is the person who I want to see come out because she’s the one probably played the best game. I would love to see Ashleigh win though because she was my girl in the house. She was an underdog and right now she’s fighting to stay alive. She’s going to have to win competitions and she’s a deadly competitor.

I would not like to see Sarah or Brittnee. Those girls were on the other side of the house. As people, I love them but as game players, they got me out, so I don’t want to see them win.

What was the most memorable moment inside the house? Was it a twist, if so, which twist?
There were a lot of good moments… The costumes, seeing Emmett and Jon and stuff. But I got to say that the twist with the triple eviction… I’m on the block and I feel like I’m going out the door and Bruno puts the veto around my neck! It was just one of those moments that are so surreal. You think that you’re walking out the door and the next thing you know, you’ve got another life in the game. That’s what Big Brother throws at you. It’s the ups and downs. You’ve just got to roll with them.

What’s your game plan for the jury house? Do you think any of the jury members could sway your opinion of anyone?
I have absolutely no game plan for the jury. I’m just going to walk in there and just continue to talk game with the people because I know they’re going to be speculating and I know they’re going to be speculating and I know they’re going to be babbling. I have no game plan. I’ll walk in there and fill them in on what’s going on.

Do I think that they’ll be able to sway my vote? Absolutely not. If anything I’ll be able to sway their opinions on the house. I think it’ll be some fun and some time to wind down from the game.

The two hour season finale of Big Brother Canada airs Wednesday, May 27 at 8pm on Global TV.
