Peacock’s latest original comedy series Rutherford Falls will premiere in Canada on Thursday, April 29 on Showcase with back-to-back episodes at 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. ET.
The Office’s Ed Helms stars in this new project which he co-created with Mike Shur (The Office, Parks and Recreation, and The Good Place) and Sierra Teller Ornelas (Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Superstore) and represents a “breakthrough” moment in indigenous representation in a comedy television series in front and behind the camera with five Indigenous writers in the writer’s room – including Ornelas and series co-star Jana Schmieding (Broad City).
Rutherford Falls tells the story of two lifelong friends, Nathan Rutherford (Helms) and Reagan Wells (Schmieding), who find themselves at crossroads when their sleepy town gets an unexpected wakeup call as there’s a proposal to move a statue of the founder of the town, which borders a reserve.
The series also stars Jesse Leigh (Heathers) and Canadians Michael Greyeyes (I Know This Much Is True) and Dustin Milligan (Schitt’s Creek).
The 10-episode series premieres in the U.S. on Thursday, April 22. Global will simulcast the series premiere of Rutherford Falls at 8 p.m. ET/PT on April 29. Showcase will continue to air two new episodes back-to-back on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The series will also be available to watch on demand, and to stream via Showcase.ca, the Global TV app, and STACKTV.
