Saturday Night Live returns for its 47th season this Saturday, Oct. 2 with host Owen Wilson and musical guest Kacey Musgraves.
Ahead of its premiere, NBC announced that Beck Bennett and Lauren Holt have departed the cast. Holt joined the series for just one season (as a featured member) while Bennett had appeared since 2013.
Joining the cast this season are actor and filmmaker Aristotle Athari, impressionist James Austin Johnson, and surrealist comedian Sarah Sherman while Chloe Fineman and Bowen Yang will be promoted from featured players to repertory status.
Veteran cast members returning include Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, Mikey Day, Heidi Gardner, Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong, and Kenan Thompson.
Mike DiCenzo from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon has joined the writing staff along with Billy Domineau, Alex English, Martin Herlihy, John Higgins, Vanessa Jackson, Tesha Kondrat, Ben Marshall, Jake Norwind, and Ben Silva. Weekend Update anchors Michael Che and Colin Jost continue to serve as headwriters alongside Anna Drezen and Kent Sublette.
In addition to Owen Wilson and Kacey Musgraves, this October’s slate of fresh episodes will also feature Kim Kardashian West and Halsey on Oct. 9, Rami Malek and Young Thug on Oct. 16, and Jason Sudeikis and Brandi Carlile on Oct. 23.
Saturday Night Live airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. on NBC and Global. The series also streams on Peacock in the U.S. and the Global app in Canada.
