“I want my MTV!”
Pluto TV, which recently celebrated its first anniversary in Canada, launched four new MTV-branded channels on the free streaming platform.
MTV Classic, MTV Spankin’ New, MTV Biggest Pop, and Yo! MTV are four music video channels that join the MTV lineup which also include MTV Reality and MTV Dating (which feature shows like The Hills, Jersey Shore, Ex on The Beach, and Are You The One?), while hit MTV shows Catfish, Ridiculousness, and The Challenge each get their own channels.
- MTV Classic promises to be the “soundtrack to your day” as it features the biggest and best songs from the 80s, 90s, and 00s!
- MTV Spankin’ New offers a place to discover new artists before they become household names.
- MTV Biggest Pop brings viewers today’s best music, brightest stars and most dance-able hits.
- Yo! MTV celebrates the latest and greatest hip-hop music videos and a hand-picked roster of the hottest rap, R&B, and Latin artists to get any party started.
While Bell Media has held rights to the MTV branded channel and programming in Canada (across MTV, Much, and CTV) Paramount has begun adding its content library to streaming services like Paramount+ and Pluto TV in Canada including the aforementioned MTV reality channels, the 2023 MTV VMAs and the MTV Xmas video channel that streamed in December.
Pluto TV will once again stream the 2024 MTV MVAs live for free in Canada, as well as next year’s EMAs.
Additional music programming on Pluto TV include channels from Stingray: Quello Concerts (which brings you front row seat to epic concerts and legendary music documentaries), CMusic (classical and cinematic music videos), Classica (breathtaking orchestral performances, operas, and ballets), and Djazz (the most accessible shows from the work of jazz).
