Here’s what’s new and streaming this weekend in Canada.

  • Fresh on Netflix is The Decameron, which is set in 1348 during the Black Death, the deadliest pandemic in human history. The series explores the timely themes of class systems, power struggles, and survival in a time of pandemic. The cast includes Zosia Mamet (Girls), Saoirse-Monica Jackson (Derry Girls), Tony Hale (Arrested Development), and Jessica Plummer (EastEnders). The series began streaming on Thursday, July 25, on Netflix.
  • Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare finally premieres on Canada beginning Thursday, July 25 on Prime Video. The British military recruits a small group of highly skilled soldiers to strike against German forces behind enemy lines during World War II.

The film boasts a stellar cast with Henry Cavill, Alan Ritchson, Alex Pettyfer, Eiza Gonzalez, Babs Olusanmokun, Cary Elwes, Henry Golding, Rory Kinnear, Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Freddie Fox.

  • In Cora Bora, Megan Stalter (Hacks) stars as Cora, who feels that her relationship is not going well, so she goes back home to win her girlfriend back but realizes that it’s much more than just her love life that needs salvaging. The film also stars Manny Jacinto, Chelsea Peretti, Caitlin Reilly, Heather Morris, and Margaret Cho. Streaming now on Hoopla in Canada.
  • Natalie Portman stars in Apple TV+’s latest drama, Lady in the Lake. Set in ‘60s Baltimore, an aspiring reporter pursues the murder of a forgotten young woman. The first two episodes premiered on Friday, July 19. A new episode begins streaming on Friday, July 26.

  • Dynasty’s Elizabeth Gillies stars in the new Tubi film Spread where to make ends meet, an aspiring journalist is forced to take a job at the world’s largest porn magazine – beginning her journey to changer life, and the porn industry forever.
  • In Dirty Pop: The Boy Band Scam, Netflix’s new docuseries looks in Lou Perlman, who created the biggest boy bands of the ‘90s and one of the largest Ponzi schemes in history. Members of NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, and O-Town reflect on their rise to stardom under the controversial talent manager. The miniseries premiered on Wednesday, July 24.
  • Something fun for the family with Apple TV+’s Time Bandits where an unlikely alliance forms between a band of thieves and Kevin, an 11-year-old history buff, as they embark on a perilous mission to save Kevin’s family and the world. The series stars Kal-El Tuck, Lisa Kudrow, Tadhg Murphy as well as Jermaine Clement and Taika Waititi. Time Bandits premiered on Wednesday, July 24.
  • Richard Armitage (Red Eye) stars in The Boy in the Woods, which is the remarkable true-life survival story of a Jewish boy hiding and being hunted in the forests of Nazi-occupied Eastern Europe. Christopher Heyerdahl and Ari Millen also star. The film begins streaming on Friday, July 26, on Paramount+.
  • Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon and the kids are back in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which begins streaming this Friday, July 26 on Crave.

When the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second ice age. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts also star.
