OK, is MTV really heading back to The Hills? (as teased yesterday)
Yes — but it might not be the revival some fans were hoping for (not yet anyway).
Lauren Conrad took to Twitter on Tuesday (May 31) to let fans know that she’s allowed the cameras back into her life. “Today is the 10th anniversary of The Hills! I am excited to announce that MTV will premiere an anniversary special with me on Tuesday 8/2.”

In a blog post, Conrad looked back at watching the very first episode of the series which saw her move from Laguna Beach to Los Angeles. As for the special, Conrad revealed that she spent a lot of time thinking about how she’d like to honour the anniversary and “In the end, I just wanted to do something as a thank you to fans.” The special, airing Tuesday, August 2 at 10 p.m., will be an “honest conversation about what it was really like living with cameras for so many years (spoiler alert: it was super weird), sharing some behind-the-scenes secrets, and showing some of my life today.”
The successful fashion designer, who married musician William Tell in September 2014, also called out fans to submit questions about The Hills.
No word yet if the special (which may be titled The Hills: That Was Then, This Is Now) will air on MTV here in Canada, but we’ll keep you posted!
Also no word yet if any of Conrad’s former costars/friends will be part of this project. So now for that revival… Justin Bobby revealed to Entertainment Tonight that The Hills creator Adam DiVella recently approached him about a potential deal that was in the works to revive the series and that Netflix was a potential home. Former executive producer Liz Gately also told ET that “I know that there were some rumblings about it, but i don’t think it’s happening — yet, anyway.”
Hmm… So we shall see. In the meantime, these GIFs will live on forever. Oh and also, Buzzfeed did an article today on the importance and brilliance of The Hills After Show, check it out here.
