The fifth season of Edris Elba’s Luther will make its Canadian debut this Sunday, January 20, at 10 p.m. ET on BBC Canada and then air on Showcase the following day at 9 p.m. ET.

Airing over three years after the conclusion of season four, the fifth season sees the return of Ruth Wilson as Alice Morgan. The four-episode fifth season aired in the UK from Jan. 1 to 4, 2019. Official season description from the BBC is below.

“A new spate of nightmarish murders brings DCI John Luther to once again far the depths of human depravity on the streets of London.

While the monstrous and seemingly indiscriminate killings become ever more audacious and public, Luther and new recruit D.S. Catherine Halliday (Wunmi Mosaku) are confounded by a complex tangle of leads and misdirection that seems designed to protect an untouchable corruption.

As the body count rises, and gangster George Cornelius (Patrick Malahide) applies his own pressure, can Luther catch a killer to save his own neck?”

Canadians can watch the first four seasons of Luther on the CBC Gem app. New episodes of Luther will air Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on BBC Canada and then repeat on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on Showcase.
