Soap Casting News: Steve Burton to Exit DAYS and Return to GH

Steve Burton will be exiting Days of our Lives later this year while a soap vet joins The Young and the Restless! Here’s the latest comings and goings in the world of daytime.

  • Steve Burton announced that he’s wrapped up filming his one-year return to Days of our Lives as Harris Michaels. Look for Burton to air as Harris for the next six months or so.

    Burton first appeared as Harris back in 1988 and reprised the role for the second season of the spin-off Beyond Salem in 2022. The actor is best known for playing the role of Jason Morgan on General Hospital (from 1991-2012, 2017-2021) and General Hospital: Night Shift (2007), as well as a stint on The Young and the Restless as Dylan McAvoy (from 2013-2017).

UPDATE (Jan. 5): During General Hospital’s 60th anniversary special on Thursday (Jan. 4) night, it was revealed that Burton would be returning to the role of Jason Morgan!

  • Sal Stowers (ex-Lani, DAYS) is appearing on Tyler Perry’s Sisters, which returned for its seventh season last night (Jan. 3) on BET.
  • The Bold and the Beautiful’s Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter) appears in the new thriller One Night Stay, which is now streaming on BET+.
  • Romy Park will be back as Poppy, Li’s (Naomi Matsuda) sister onB&B, this week as she goes on a date with Bill (Don Diamont).
  • Adam Huss is back as Nikolas on General Hospital as of the Jan. 3 episode.
  • Soap vet Brian Gaskill (Guiding Light, Port Charles, The Bold and the Beautiful, As the World Turns) begins airing on The Young and the Restless this Friday (Jan. 5 in Canada; airs Jan. 7 in the U.S.), as Seth – a man who Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) meets at AA.
