Craving some new movies to watch at home? We’ve got you covered. This September brings a fantastic lineup of films to streaming, including several that made a splash at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
From a new Liam Neeson action movie to a feel-good film inspired by the founder of Bumble, there’s something for every kind of movie lover. Among the highlights is the premiere of Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery on CBC Gem, a new documentary exploring the groundbreaking 1990s music festival, which had its world premiere at this year’s TIFF.
Another must-watch is the darkly comedic film Friendship, which was a hit at last year’s festival and is now coming to Paramount+. We also have All of You, an emotional sci-fi romance that premiered at this year’s festival, landing on Apple TV+.

Canadian director Chandler Levack’s2022 stars Isaiah Lehtinen asLawrence Kweller, a socially inept 17-year-old cinephile, gets a job at a video store, where he forms a complicated friendship with his older female manager. Premiered at TIFF in 2022.
Ice Road: Vengeance (Prime Video; Wednesday, September 3)
Mike travels to Nepal to scatter his late brother’s ashes on Mt. Everest. When Mike and his mountain guide encounter mercenaries on a tour bus, they are forced to fight to save themselves, the passengers, and the local villagers’ homeland.’ Starring Liam Neeson.
Friendship (Paramount+; Wednesday, September 10)
Craig (Tim Robinson), a socially awkward marketing executive, becomes obsessed with befriending his charismatic neighbour, Austin (Paul Rudd). What begins as a hopeful attempt at connection quickly spirals into increasingly uncomfortable and destructive behaviour, threatening Craig’s marriage and personal life. Darkly comedic and cringe-inducing, Friendship explores loneliness, modern masculinity, and the complicated nature of adult relationships. Premiered at TIFF in 2024.
Aftersun (CBC Gem; Friday, September 12)
Sophie reflects on the shared joy and private melancholy of a holiday she took with her father twenty years earlier. Memories real and imagined fill the gaps between as she tries to reconcile the father she knew with the man she didn’t. Directed by Charlotte Wells and starring Paul Mescal and Frankie Corio. Premiered at TIFF in 2022.
The Wrong Paris (Netflix; Friday, September 12)
A young woman (Miranda Cosgrove) joins a dating show thinking it’s in Paris, France, but it’s actually in Paris, Texas. She plots a way to get eliminated until her unexpected feelings for the bachelor (Pierson Fodé) complicate her plans.
Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery (CBC Gem; Wednesday, September 17)
Explores the 1990s all-female music festival Lilith Fair. Premiered at this year’s TIFF.
Swiped (Disney+; Friday, September 19)
Inspired by the story of Whitney Wolfe Herd, founder and former CEO of dating platform Bumble. Starring Lily James, Dermot Mulroney, and Dan Stevens. Premiered at this year’s TIFF.
All of You (Apple TV+; Friday, September 26)
A stirring near-futuristic romance of two best friends who harbor an unspoken love for one another even after a test matches one of them up with their supposed soulmate. Starring Brett Goldstein, Imogen Poots, and Jenna Coleman. Premiered at TIFF in 2024.
