The second season of Star Trek: Discovery is set to premiere this Thursday, January 17, at 8 p.m. ET on Space in Canada and at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS All Access in the U.S. (the series premieres the following day on Netflix in other countries).
The crew of the U.S.S. Discovery answers a directress signal from the U.S.S. Enterprises as they then join forces with Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) on a new mission to investigate seven mysterious red signals and the appearance of an unknown being called the Red Angel. Meanwhile, Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) reconnects with her estranged brother, Spock (Ethan Peck).
Returning for the second season alongside Martin-Green are Michelle Yeoh (Philippa Georgiou), Doug Jones (Commander Saru), Shazad Latif (Ash Tyler), Anthony Rapp (Lt. Commander Paul Stamets), Mary Wiseman (Ensign Sylvia Tilly), Wilson Cruz (Dr. Hugh Culber) and Mary Chieffo (L’Rell).
It has been announced that CBS All Access is developing a new spinoff around Michelle Yeoh which would be based on Starfleet black ops division, Section 31. Also in development is the new animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks — while Patrick Stewart’s new series, which has him reprising his iconic role as Captain Jean-Lucy Picard, is expected to premiere later this year.
Star Trek: Discovery’s second season premieres on Thursday, January 17 at 8 p.m. ET on Space and will also stream Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on Crave, beginning January 18.
