April 2025 Top 5: Dying for Sex, Your Friends and Neighbors, Ludwig, MobLand, and The Pitt

top 5 tv shows april 2025

April showers? More like a tidal wave of new shows to watch. Here’s a rundown of the top five shows that I enjoyed this past month – oh and don’t you worry, I put The Studio down last month.

Almost a month later and I’m still thinking about Disney+’s Dying for Sex. Michelle Williamsraw and compelling exploration of love, and the complexities of human relationships. The final scene of the series was hauntingly beautiful.

Jon Hamm’s Your Friends and Neighbors explores the messy underbelly of an affluent community seen through the eyes of a disgraced hedge fund manager. The series continues on Apple TV+.

BritBox is such a reliable source of quirky charm. I closed off the month by binging Ludwig. It’s a mystery, with a crossword-obsessed protagonist (David Mitchell) who steps into his twin’s detective shoes. It’ll be back for season two!

It’s not over yet, but Paramount+ MobLand is delivering an excellent dose of grit and stammering tension if you’re craving comforting darkness and morally flexible characters making terrible choices. The show is STACKED with talent: Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Joanne Froggat and Helen Mirren!

Oh, and let’s not forget The Pitt, which ended its 15-episode first season in April. The Noah Wyle series throws you right into the chaotic heart of a Pittsburgh hospital. Standouts include Patrick Ball, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden (Google who her father is!), and Gerran Howell – who hilariously also pops up on Ludwig (minus the blood and other stuff). Now streaming on Crave in Canada. Will also return for second season.

That’s the five from April. I’m already predicting Hacks and Late Bloomer making the May list.
