The City, “Show ‘Em What You Got”

The City’s back and the second season kicks off where the last one left off as Whitney only has a week to put on a show at New York Fashion Week. A designer showing at fashion week normally has a few months to plan the show, however, our girl Whitney only has a week. Oh did we mention that this show is “make or break” for Whit? So the pressure to succeed is high. With Roxie’s help (and by help, we mean moral support and nothing else), Whitney manages to get new fabric, pick out fresh models between the ages of 14 and 17 and completes the remaining 7 out of 24 looks for the runway.

Meanwhile, over at Elle magazine, Joe Zee is still reeling from the ultimatum that Erin issued him…either Olivia goes or she does. Joe talks to editor-in-chief, Robbie Myers, about the childish issues and (of course) she’s not having any of it. Within seconds, she calls in Erin (who is a “senior” employee) and Erin lets her know that she gave out the ultimatum when she was in a bad place and she’s willing to work it out with Olivia as the girls need to get over this personality clash. (To be clear, as long as it is for the greater good of Elle magazine.) Joe tells Erin that Olivia will be reassigned to Elle.com and will be interviewing designers at fashion show but it will still be Erin’s job (as publicity director) to make sure Olivia gets access to the designers. Joe fills Olivia in on her new stint and seems excited and promises to meet up with Erin so that they could find a way to work together. Olivia does just that and invites Erin to a café where they both agree to start fresh.

Erin’s Bitch Face and why Olivia needs to get over it
I really like Erin but she needs to do something about her facial reactions. Okay, we get it…you can frown like it’s nobody’s business…but please, at least smile like you mean it. By no means would we be defending Olivia. She started this “job” all wrong. If you’re gonna be all snooty and have the misfortune of working under someone at an actual reputable fashion magazine, then you need to suck it up and do the job as asked. Olivia has a problem with this. She needs to realize that she’s actually working and getting paid to do a job. She’s not doing them any favors by simply showing up and gracing the magazine with her affluent presence. When a superior tells you to do something a certain way, no matter how ridiculous or low-brow it sounds to you…just do it and get over it.

Whitney Eve impresses at Bryant Park
The fashion show was impressive. Michelle, the seamstress, came through for Whitney when she needed some new emergency leggings made. Did Michelle get any sleep the night before? Probably not. It was nice to see Whitney’s parents again. Her mom was lovely to help out. Whitney apologized to one of the assistants for being a “bitch.” Whit, honey…if that’s you being a bitch, I can’t wait for you to get a little *unty. Despite a random model not being ready and throwing off the order of the last few items, the show was an overall success.

Kelly cried but didn’t have to go outside
While Kelly Cutrone’s own reality show (Kell On Earth, a great program that Canadian broadcasters can’t seem to get) shows glimpses of Kelly’s softer side, it was really touching to see her break down after Whitney’s show and tell her how proud she is. I’m sure we were all touched when Whitney told her she was a part of her family. So will it be all sugar treats with Kell after this? Oh hell no, judging by the preview she’ll be calling Olivia out on the pariah that she is. Welcome back to Canadian television Kelly…we’ve missed you.

The City airs Wednesdays at 10:00pm on MTV in Canada and is followed by The After Show. Viewers can catch up with The City and The Hills at MTV.ca.

Erin’s face have no muscle control. She’s just plain ridiculous way she looks at people, hope the asian boss get to his senses and tosses that bitch out of the building.
