Younger has its Canadian premiere tonight on M3 in Canada. The TV Land series comes from the Pamela Redmon Satran novel of the same name and is produced by Darren Star (Sex and the City, Beverly Hills 90210).
Bunheads‘ Sutton Foster stars as Liza, a recently divorced 40 year-old mother who is having trouble finding a job in the publishing industry due to her age and the fact that she hasn’t had any work experience since taking a 15-year break in order to raise her daughter Caitlin (Tessa Albertson). After receiving a compliment and date from a much younger guy, Josh (The Following‘s Nico Tortorella), Liza decides to pose as a 26 year-old with the help of her best friend Maggie (Entourage‘s Debi Mazar) and lands a job as an assistant at a publishing firm. GCB‘s Miriam Shor plays Liza’s boss while Hilary Duff (Lizzie McGuire) plays her co-worker.
The premiere does a good job at introducing us to Liza — we see her as both a caring mother and a woman who wants to get her professional life back on track. It’ll be fun to see Liza learn about fashion, pop culture and social media. Those worried that Liza’s lack of millennial knowledge may get jarring, I think we’re safe. The first episode even tackles a very “private” matter that could out Liza’s real age.
Younger airs Tuesdays at 8pm ET/5pm PT on M3.
