Big Brother Canada Exit Interview: Donna Marshall

donna marshall big brother canada exit interview season 12

Donna Marshall, the 26-year-old artist from Hubbards, Nova Scotia, was the latest houseguest to be evicted on Big Brother Canada. The TV Watercooler caught up with Donna following her eviction to chat about how Victoria should have done more to have her stay, her friendship with Todd, and how to make the perfect sandwich.

On your way out, we could hear Victoria tell you “I’ll make this up to you.” How could she possibly do that when you’re sitting at home?

“Girl, you’re pretty much the head of this alliance and you can’t convince one person on our alliance to vote to keep me in?” How is that making it up to me? You know…

I love her, which is so weird. But she could have done more.

How surprised were you to learn that Victoria was loyal to Anthony since day one in her goodbye message to you?

I thought that I should have known when I heard that! So, I wasn’t too surprised. More so, I felt like I found the piece of the puzzle that I was missing. Why didn’t I think that the only two All-Stars weren’t working together?

Do you think there’s any power left in the ‘Big Sisters’ alliance?

No, I think they’re going to create their own new alliances. I feel like Bayleigh is not going to be part of that group because they got rid of me. She might be hurt that I’m gone or she’s going to adjust her game and get in with them and then maybe they will be the ‘Big Sisters’ [again]. But I could see them changing the name.

Were all the girls in the ‘Big Sisters’ alliance on equal footing or do you think there is a stronger group within that alliance?

Yes, I think there’s definitely a connection with Avery, Kayla and Lexus. I did think two mini groups eventually formed.

Do you think the girls will realize that Victoria’s loyalty is towards Anthony?

I think that they are very capable of putting it together, but I don’t think it’s going to be for a little while. I do think that it’s going to happen when the numbers get so low,  like when they are in an alliance and there’s something very confidential about Anthony, and it somehow gets back to him. There’s only so many people in the room and you can only go around a circle and look around without seeing Spicy and put it all together.

You and Todd got pretty close! You gave him a kiss. Is it safe to assume you miss him the most?

I do! I woke up this morning and wondered how he was doing in there. It’s his first day without me. We were always really close friends and then obviously, you saw this romantic spark near the end, so there’s more.

I was resisting it because I didn’t want to kiss him on TV and have my parents watch it or my grandfather – who is sitting at home trying to enjoy the show!

I knew I was going home, so I knew what had to be done! I’m kissing a guy!

You can do more damage control now that you’re home.

Yeah. He’s a Newfoundland boy! Come on! [Laughs]

You said you were rooting for Dinis to win. What about Todd?

Well, anyone in the trio that tried to save me. Todd, Bayleigh, or Dinis. I hope they take the win.

What was your favourite memory from inside the Big Brother Canada house?

Honestly, just hanging out in the pink room with a tight-knit group of people that I really got on with – on a personal level where you put your game aside and your just making jokes with each other and laughing. It’s when time actually goes by quick enough for once, because let me tell you, one day [in that house] feels like five!

Did you feel bad for Vivek when Bayleigh went off on him? Did she?

No, she felt bad. I didn’t even know what to say in there because I didn’t know what was really going on. I was like, “Bayleigh’s popping off and I’m going to enjoy my sandwich!”

I did actively feel bad for Vivek, but I didn’t want to interrupt. I was like, “She’s going to catch him in a lie, just let her go on for a little bit.” I felt like she was my dog on a leash, just going crazy at the other dog in the park!

But the thing is, right before that, he literally had that conversation with Victoria and thew their names under the bus! They were the two people that were the most loyal to him in this game. I don’t know what they aired, but the two people that were the most loyal to him in our little East Coast thing. The second his back is towards the well, he tells Victoria, “You should take out Todd and Bayleigh. Bayleigh is the most untrustworthy of the two.”

Of course she took that to heart because she’s so loyal to the soil with Vivek. We trusted him! He could have gone for anyone else in the house. Maybe Matt, Tola, or Avery. Why did you put the two people that are the closest to you? That’s a bad move.

The most important question that I have to ask you is what was in the sandwhich? Did you make the sandwich? Tell us about the sandwich!

I make a killer sandwich. I was on slop for a good week in there, so I didn’t really have much time in the kitchen. Any time people make dinner, I just grab a bowl. So, I thought, I’m going to try this sandwich thing!

I take a good rye bread. I toast that! I put a little bit of butter on it. Then, then I get a nice charcuterie salami and put that on. I’ll then take a turkey breast that’s shaved. Some spinach, some mayo, put on some mustard, some tomatoes, salt and pepper, and some avocado if we’ve got any.

Let me tell you… add some cheddar cheese, and it’s a great sandwich!

This Sunday’s (March 24) episode of Big Brother Canada will air at a special time, 8 p.m. ET/9MT, and then Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET/MT, and Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. EP/8MT on Global.
