I didn’t get a chance to do a write-up last week, so here are some new picks which premiered last week/this weekend, including the films Road House and Dream Scenario and series Palm Royale, American Rust: Broken Justice, and A Gentleman in Moscow.
Palm Royale
Kristen Wiig stars as an ambitious woman who schemes to secure her seat at America’s most exclusive table: Palm Beach high society circa 1969. The first four episodes of Palm Royale are now streaming on Apple TV+ with new episodes premiering each Wednesday. Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Leslie Bibb, Josh Lucas, Ricky Martin, Bruce Dern, and Carol Burnett also star.
American Rust: Broken Justice
Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney return in American Rust: Broken Justice. The second season lands on Prime Video and takes us back to the fictional small town of Buell, Pennsylvania where Del Haris (Daniels) and Grace Poe (Tierney) try to rebuild their lives while a string of seemingly unrelated murders hint at a much larger conspiracy which threatens the small, tight-knit town. All ten episodes premiere on Thursday, March 28 on Prime Video.
A Gentleman in Moscow
A Russian aristocrat is spared from death and placed on house arrest in the attic of a lavish hotel in this adaptation of the best-selling novel. Good news for the long weekend, Saturday Night Live is new with host Ramy Youssef. Check out the upcoming lineup here.
Road House
Jake Gyllenhaal stars in the remake of Road House as an ex-UFC fighter who takes a job at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover this paradise is not all it seems. The action makes up for the story. Road House began streaming on Prime Video on March 21.
Dream Scenario
Nicolas Cage stars as a hapless family man who finds his life turned upside down when millions of strangers begin seeing him in their dreams. Dream Scenario began streaming on Paramount+ on March 22.
